When using a suction gun, use standard helium to calibrate the leak detector
At present, when using a helium mass spectrometer leak detectorfor leak detection, if the inflation method is used for leak detection, a leak detection suction gun is necessary. It is connected to the leak detector, adjusts the appropriate gas flow rate, and puts the instrument in a normal leak detection state. The tested container is filled with several atmospheres of helium gas. During leak detection, the nozzle of the suction gun moves along the area to be inspected. When no leak is found, a small amount of air flows into the mass spectrometer through the nozzle of the suction gun. When a leak is found, helium gas in the container leaks out shallowly through the leak and is sucked into the mass spectrometer by the suction gun. The instrument's indication increases, and the location of the leak and its leakage rate can be determined. Implementing mass spectrometry leak detection on stamped containers can greatly improve product quality. In recent years, the demand for leak detection of high-pressure vessels has been increasing, which has led to the application of helium mass spectrometry leak detection technology in many technical fields, and leak detection suction guns have also been included in the main accessories.
The suction gun is a specialized tool for helium mass spectrometer leak detection using the suction method. It mainly consists of adjustable needle valves, capillary suction tubes, filters, connecting hoses, and fittings. The connecting hose can be 3 meters, 5 meters, or longer, depending on the size of the inspected workpiece and the proximity of the helium mass spectrometer leak detector to the inspected workpiece. The hose is long and the leak detection response time is also long, with a response time of about 2 seconds for a 3-meter-long hose. During operation, connect the leak detection port of the helium mass spectrometer with a connector. When the needle valve is adjusted appropriately and air is continuously sucked in, the leak detection port can maintain a normal working pressure of about 5Pa. Move the suction gun on the surface of the inspected workpiece filled with positive pressure helium to suck in the helium leaked from the inspected space. Leakage points greater than 10-6Pa.m3/s are easy to identify. To detect smaller leaks, careful operation is required. It is also possible to use a suction gun to suck in air containing helium and perform relevant debugging on the reverse diffusion leak detector.
